About this page
The Cedarviora platform uses specific terminology to describe its structure and functions. Some of these terms have general meanings in information technology or digital services, while others are used in ways particular to this platform. The explanations below are intended to remove ambiguity and help users read the platform's documentation more effectively.
Glossary of platform terms
Classification — The process of assigning a piece of information to a defined category within the platform. Classification determines where information appears in the interface and how it relates to other items in the same section. Classification is applied before information is made accessible to users.
Category — A defined group within the platform's information structure. Each category contains information of a particular type or subject. Navigation within the platform is built around these categories, so understanding the category system helps users locate what they are looking for more efficiently.
Interface — The layer through which users interact with the organised information. The Cedarviora interface is designed to reflect the underlying classification structure directly, so that the visual organisation of the navigation and content mirrors the logical organisation of the data.
Access request — A formal enquiry submitted through the contact form by a user who wishes to gain access to a specific section or category of the platform. An access request is reviewed by the support team and does not automatically result in access being granted.
Support team — The group responsible for reviewing enquiries, responding to access requests, and providing guidance about the platform. The support team operates on behalf of Cedarviora Inc. and can be contacted at [email protected].
Scope — The range of information types and categories currently organised within the platform. The platform's scope is defined by what has been classified and made available, not by what a user might wish to find. Scope may change over time as the service develops.
AI-assisted — A general term used to indicate that automated or machine-learning methods contribute to certain platform functions, particularly classification. This term describes a broad category of technology rather than a specific system, and users should not infer any particular technical architecture from its use.
Structured information — Information that has been organised according to a consistent format or schema, making it easier to compare, sort, or navigate programmatically or visually. Cedarviora works with structured information as its primary content type.
Navigable — Capable of being explored through the platform's interface without requiring specialised tools or knowledge. A navigable section is one whose categories and contents are presented in a way that allows a user to move through it with a reasonable understanding of what each part contains.
Notes on language used in platform documentation
Platform documentation on this site uses the term "may" to describe features or behaviours that are plausible but not confirmed in all cases. Where the documentation uses "is" or "provides", it is describing the intended design of the service rather than making a warranty about any particular instance of its use.
References to "the platform" and "the service" are used interchangeably throughout this site to refer to the Cedarviora information-organisation system operated by Cedarviora Inc.
If you encounter a term on this site that is not explained here and would like clarification, please contact the support team at [email protected].
